On Friday, January 10th, pre-orders launched for the FORTEGA. A brand-new wheel from BBS, made from an all-new material, the first new material BBS developed since the extra-super duralumin of 2011.
Offered in fitment for the Porsche Taycan 4S in its initial 50 Set batch, delivery is expected to begin around August 2025.
A New Flagship Model Created with “FORTEGA” Material
“FORTEGA,” which elevates BBS’s traditional cross-spoke design into the modern era, is BBS’s proprietary new material that is lighter than ever before with no loss of rigidity. The wheels created from this material deliver BBS’s signature performance and beauty, even for heavier vehicles, captivating those behind the wheel.
FORTEGA: A New Material After 10 Years
As the world moves closer to achieving a carbon-neutral society,
what new performance requirements are wheels facing?
BBS’s optimal solution is the development of “FORTEGA” - their first new material
since the extra-super duralumin of 2011.
“FORTEGA” combines the Italian words “forte” meaning strong and “lega” meaning alloy.
FORTEGA, which balances strength, flexibility, and lightness, has been successfully made around 10% lighter in weight while maintaining high rigidity compared to conventional aluminum alloys. Its standout feature is scope to enhance rigidity, regardless of shape, while maintaining its aluminum alloy characteristics.
BBS’s First Circuit Test Drive Event
Following repeated verification tests and FORTEGA performance evaluations, BBS held its first circuit test drive event to allow participants to experience its performance firsthand. As befits the unveiling of a new flagship wheel, the venue for the event was THE MAGARIGAWA CLUB in Minamiboso City, Chiba Prefecture, where participants compared stock wheels with FORTEGA wheels. All attendees experienced the performance difference firsthand.
